Hydarthrosis

What it is?

Hydarthrosis is a pathological accumulation of fluid in the cavity of mobile joints. Knee hydarthrosis is one of the most famous pathologies. It is manifested by swelling and pain in the knee.

Definition of hydarthrosis
 Hydarthrosis contributes to the pathological accumulation of synovial fluid in the joint cavity. This viscous fluid is secreted by the synovial membrane, which lines the inside of the movable joints. It allows you to lubricate articular surfaces, reduce friction between bones, soften strokes and nourish cartilage.
Hydarthrosis can affect all moving joints. This is more commonly seen on superficial joints, especially on the knee, elbow, fingers, wrists, and legs.

Causes of hydarthrosis:

an outbreak of osteoarthritis, especially in the knee (gonarthrosis);
fibrocartilaginous pathology, such as a degenerative lesion (meniscosis);
osteochondritis or osteochondrosis, which is an abnormality of bone and cartilage growth;
traumatic injury;
rare arthropathy, such as chondromatosis or nervous arthropathy.

Diagnosis of hydarthrosis
The diagnosis of hydarthrosis is first based on a clinical study. This allows, in particular, to examine the painful joint and determine if there are any signs of synovial effusion.

Additional studies may be conducted. These include:

joint puncture followed by biological analysis to assess joint fluid;
medical examinations, such as x-ray or MRI (magnetic resonance imaging).
Patients with any of the above pathologies often develop hydarthrosis.

Exudation leads to the appearance of swelling in the affected joint. This usually leads to the fact that the anatomical reliefs of the joint disappear.

Pain
Hydarthrosis causes pain. It intensifies with movement. On the other hand, it weakens at rest.

Hydarthrosis Treatment
The treatment of hydarthrosis is primarily based on the withdrawal of accumulated joint fluid. This is done through articular puncture. This helps relieve pain by reducing intra-articular pressure.

In parallel, the treatment of hydarthrosis can also be based on eliminating the underlying cause.

Hydarthrosis Prevention

In order to prevent the occurrence of hydarthrosis and related pathologies, it is recommended:

follow a healthy and balanced diet;
engage in physical activity regularly;
Improve ergonomics in the workplace to reduce stress on the joints. 5 pound deposit casinos
