How to create content you'll want to read

If you're a blogger or you just create some content online, you probably want more people to know about your work.

You spend a lot of time and effort creating the best content in the world. But you realize you're not alone on the Internet - and so it can be difficult to stand out from the competition. That's when you turn to the real "gurus." Maybe you take some courses on "audience building" - you learn about pop-up ads, lead magnets, sales funnels, and all sorts of strategies, hacks, and tactics.

But many bloggers who get all this expert advice still fail to increase their audience significantly. Of course, this is very demoralizing and frustrating. What should a desperate blogger do in such a case? Read my brief guide in pictures.

Think of the reader first

Some people use the internet for work and to find important knowledge, but for many it's just a place to relax. Think about how you usually spend your time online. More often than not, you go online to have fun, get excited, or learn something new.

So when creating content with content writing tools, think of your reader first, not what a great creator you are. You have to understand what you're creating from your audience's perspective. Will she like your work? Or will she think you're trying to sell her something. People can sense your secret intentions.

Do you like pop-up ads on websites? I don't either. The same goes for endless offers to sign up for a newsletter. I don't mind a simple and polite offer to subscribe, but I don't want it shoved in my face. More often than not, I go to a blog or some site to enjoy the content.

If I like it, I might subscribe to the newsletter. But there's no way I'm going to subscribe just because I was prevented from seeing the content by a subscription offer. In general, I usually leave a site when it shows me some kind of notification.

First credibility, then sales

The quality of a blog or website depends a lot on building a trusting relationship between author and readers. People are quick to expose those who try to sell them useless things. Trust appears when the author works consistently and sincerely on their content and responds to their readers with respect and honesty. Of course, it is not established immediately.

Whisper, not shout

One of the reasons Google's search engine is successful is because of its clever design. There are no flashing ads or distracting banners on its home page - just a simple, bright logo and search bar. Simple and elegant.

The minimalist design and free use of empty space is pleasing to the eye and does not burden the brain. And an overloaded page, notifications and ads can stifle the most inspiring content.

Your blog or website should be simple. Catch people's eye with interesting headlines and quality text. You need to whisper your message to them, not shout it.

Be kind

People work hard. They have lots of responsibilities and problems in their lives. When they go online, they don't want the added stress. They want to smile. To laugh. To learn something. They want to be treated with respect and, most importantly, with friendliness. Does your content help people? Does it entertain them? Or does it make them feel uncomfortable?

Give people hope, not negativity

Well-written stories touch people. We are close to feelings of loss, love, forgiveness, inspiration, and hope. No matter what you write about, you can put sincere emotion into your work - and reach more people. There's a lot of sad, aggressive, political and advertising content on the internet. Share what gives people hope. Believe in the best.

Share original content

Create content that will inspire people. That's what they will want to read. Try to keep your work rare and valuable. Instead of creating something superficial, take it seriously.

Read more and travel. Meet new people. Experiment and don't be afraid of failure. Put aside your political beliefs and just listen to people - everyone has their own story and truth.

Share original content and hone your skills. Keep your design simple and your heart open. That's the only way you'll find readers who want the kind of genuine content that only you can create.
