First danish youth championship a great success

The German Youth Association for Northern Schleswig (DJN) hosted the first Danish Youth Championship in fistball last weekend.

At SV Tingleff, DRG Gravenstein and SC Saxburg/BBI (IFA Cup participant in 2005 in Leverkusen with coach Olaf Neuenfeld and 2009 in Girona/near Barcelona) met for the first Danish youth championship in fistball besides the host, reported https://cricket360.bet/ipl-betting/.

Although SC Saxburg already had fistball, those responsible in North Schleswig had to start completely from scratch in 2017 to revive the sport in the region after a break of several years.

"The sport of fistball was completely dead in our area until we started our fistball project with the Association of German Northern Schleswig (BDN). We had to rebuild everything and there were only a few older people in the region who still knew fistball. But we are very proud that we can now offer a youth championship. We have to pick up the young people where they go to school - knowing full well that with the talent, fistball is usually only the second or third priority.

But fistball is now a household name again in Northern Schleswig, where the German minority is based. Even the German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, the Danish Minister of State / Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and Daniel Günther (Prime Minister of Schleswig-Holstein) have been given a Danish national fistball jersey during their guest visit to Northern Schleswig." describes Thore Naujeck (Sporting Director of Team Nordschleswig - Æ Team) the development since the new beginning of fistball in Nordschleswig.

But back to the Danish championship in Tingleff.

In the male youth there were four teams, in the female youth three teams were entered - the squads of the participating clubs each consisted of six - seven youngsters aged 12 - 16.

In the female youth, everyone played against everyone and the winner in the end was SV Tingleff, who relegated SC Saxburg/BBI and DRG Gravenstein to 2nd and 3rd place.

In the boys' competition, on the other hand, after the group stage, there was also a final match in which SV Tingleff and DRG Gravenstein faced each other and which ended in Gravenstein's favor. SC Saxburg/BBI came in third place.

"We are glad that our youngsters were able to play fistball at this championship and thus gain important match practice - on top of that, there were also medals for the teams at the end. We will certainly organize a Danish youth championship again and hope then of course until then for more registered teams" said Hans Martin Asmussen (project staff sport DJN and coach of SV Tingleff) about the championship.

But after the championship is already before the championship: On Friday, the school championships in fistball will take place in Tønder with about 70 students - this is also already a great success for fistball in North Schleswig and certainly not the last event that the responsible persons of DJN and BDN host.
